Inspired by Dave Rupert’s vibe check, I'm sharing some media I've enjoyed recently:
Books
After a non-fiction period, went back to fantasy, all in! Specially on Game of Thrones universe.
A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords
These first 3 books I devoured, I couldn't put them down. The TV show is faithful to these.
A Feast for Crows, A Dance with Dragons
These last 2 books were tougher to finish. It's clear why the TV show forked from them. In hindsight, I'd say it's better to read them both at the same time using a guide like this one.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms
This was a breeze of fresh air after the last 2 books. More of a lighter read and super entertaining. I wish I didn't watch the show before, since it made me speed-read the first part.
Dungeon Crawler Carl (Audiobook)
Current "read" and my first ever audiobook. Redditors recommended it over the book for the voice acting. Super entertaining, sarcastic and just fun take over RPG games. Still on the fence about the audiobook format because the day after it's hard to find where I fell sleep.
Movies
Project Hail Mary
I was scared they would butcher this one, as it is one of my all time favourite books. What a great movie though! Ryan's performance is fantastic to the point he can carry the movie basically by himself.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie
Had low hopes for this one, but it was a pleasant surprise! Fun all over, and full of nostalgia for 90s kids.
TV Shows
Pluribus
One of the best shows I've seen in a while, super interesting premise and Rhea's acting is on point. Vince keeps up to really high expectations.
The Boys
Currently watching latest season (5). Another great dark show with an interesting premise and fun execution.
Video games
Enter the Gungeon
Bullethell roguelike with so many fun references to pop culture, spent so much time on this one! I was disappointed by the second part though (Exit the Gungeon).
Dave the Diver
Cozy game that makes me crave sushi, haven't finished it yet but it's a lot of fun.
Baldur's Gate 3
I'm ~100 hours on this one and still on my first run. Enormous, sarcastic fun and with amazing attention to detail. The kind of game to spend hours and hours on.
Music
Sadly, I have reduced my active listening time, now mostly playing classical or focus while working. However:
Angine De Poitrine
Sounds like softer Primus, but with an obsession on milking each riff over and over in different shapes. Interesting general weirdness, better watch a video!
RSS feeds
These are mostly work-related. In no particular order:
- karpathy — AI researcher, writing on LLMs. Also coined the term vibe coding.
- One Useful Thing — AI applications on daily life.
- ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ Herman's blog — Bear blog's founder, interesting takes on digital hygiene and intentful life.

Stuff I've stopped consuming
Algorithmically recommended short video AKA digital crack
TikTok, Instagram Reels, Youtube Shorts. Although it makes me monkey brain feel good at that moment, it's really wasted time and low-effort entertainment. Strangely, I would forget everything right after watching it, like I had no recollection of any of the content consumed after the session. That can't be a good sign!
